In 2010, I took a small point and shoot camera with my on my first deployment to Afghanistan. I was not a military photographer, nor did I intend to make good photographs while I was there. After 9 months in Helmand Province, I found that the photographs I'd taken were the most effective method for me to share my experience with people back home. When I left the military in 2014, I decided to take what had begun as a hobby during deployments and devote myself full time to a career in journalism, focusing on visual reportage.

I'm currently a student at Columbia University, pursuing a degree in Non-Fiction Writing and working full time as a freelance photographer and writer.
